Article Abstract:

The role of IkappaB kinase and NF-kappaB in severe systemic inflammation and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome is investigated by using specific ablation of IkappaB kinase-beta in intestinal epithelial cells. Results suggest a dual function for the NF-kappaB system involved in both tissue protection and systemic inflammation.

IKK-beta links inflammation to obesity-induced insulin resistance

Article Abstract:

The importance of liver cell IKK-beta in hepatitic insulin resistance and the central role of myeloid cells in development of systemic insulin resistance are described. The inhibition of IKK-beta, especially in myeloid cells, can be used to treat insulin resistance.
