The ubiquitin system
Article Abstract:
Research discusses the role of ubiquitin in the cellular protein degradation process and delineates the ubiquitin-proteolytic pathway. Results reveal that an ATP-dependent proteolysis factor 1 is the ubiquitin and it is an integral part of the proteolysis system. The pathway is identified as an N-end-rule pathway mediated by degradation signals, N-degrons.

Linking ubiquitin, parkin and synphilin-1
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the Parkinson disease characterized by the presence of Lewy bodies-intracytoplasmic protein accumulation. The molecular link between the formation of these bodies, ubiquitin, parkin and synphilin-1 has been investigated and the results are discussed.

Inhibition of virus-induced neuronal apoptosis by Bax
Article Abstract:
Inhibition by the Bax protein of virus-induced neuronal apoptosis has been studied in mice infected with Sindbis virus. Cell-specific factors appear to determine the anti-apoptotic vs pro-apoptotic function of Bax.
