"They saw that only an empowered work force can empower its patients"
Article Abstract:
There is a long history of nurses taking industrial action, but the 1970s and 1980s saw nurses in perpetual revolt against law wages, long working hours and harsh conditions. The government's new proposal in 2006 for a 1.5% pay hike has ignited their hostility, which is more openly manifested in sickness rates and nurses leaving jobs.
