Why is bullying still rife?
Article Abstract:
A study conducted for (National Health Service) NHS employers, found that workplace bullying was most common, making it a serious problem in spite of years of initiatives and zero-tolerance policies. It is learnt that most of the bullying and harassment is done by the line managers but the close knit environment of the NHS makes it a difficult problem to tackle since victims are worried about damaging their reputation and career prospects or fear that by complaining they may make their lives miserable.

Divided loyalties
Article Abstract:
The increasing reforms of service, changing nature of healthcare work, and the more uncertain job outlook are radically changing the nurses' perception of NHS. Three major factors contribute to this changing outlook, namely, though they work for NHS they are not employed by NHS, secondly, the demarcation between the private and the public sectors, and thirdly, there is no reciprocal loyalty, since, while the nurses may be loyal to the NHS, there is no guarantee that NHS will give them a secure job.
