Preimplantation Diagnosis for Fanconi Anemia Combined With HLA Matching
Article Abstract:
Single-cell PCR can be used to test one cell of a human embryo for a genetic disorder as well as to determine whether the resulting baby would be a compatible donor for a sibling who needs a bone marrow transplant. If the test shows that the embryo is compatible, the embryo could be implanted during an in vitro fertilization procedure.

Preimplantation HLA testing
Article Abstract:
The preimplantation HLA typing performed without PGD for a causative gene, which provides couples with a realistic option of having HLA- matched offspring to serve as potential donors of stem cells for their affected siblings is described.

Three births after preimplantation genetic diagnosis for cystic fibrosis with sequential first and second polar body analysis
Article Abstract:
Sequential first and second polar body analysis before and after in vitro fertilization can determine whether the embryo carries the cystic fibrosis gene. The first polar body is produced while the egg is developing and the second is produced after fertilization. The egg and the resulting embryo can be presumed to carry the normal gene if the polar bodies carry the defective gene. This technique was used on three couples at risk of bearing an affected child. All three had successful pregnancies and had healthy infants.
