Time-quantified fetal movement detection with two-transducer data fusion
Article Abstract:
An ultrasonographic method consisting of a two-transducer fusion system may be more accurate than other systems at detecting the number and duration of fetal movements. Researchers compared the abilities of a single-transducer system, the Hewlett-Packard HP-M-1350-A, the mother's perception, and experts in ultrasonography with the two-transducer system on 101 low-risk fetuses. Movements of each fetus were recorded for 20 minutes on a computer-controlled videotape. The types of movements studied were leg movements, major body movements, breathing, and hiccups. The two-transducer fusion system was better able to distinguish the number, duration, and type of fetal movements.

Prediction of labor in term and preterm pregnancies using non-invasive magnetomyographic recordings of uterine contractions
Article Abstract:
Characterization of the noninvasive magnetic field recordings of the uterine electrophysiologic activity in patients is done for reporting the onset of uterine contractions in the labor and delivery triage area. It was found that transabdominal magnetomyographic (MMG) evalution provides a new noninvasive method for the prediction of labor indicating that the increased peak amplitude values of magnetic activity of uterus, correlate with the development of labor within 48 hours of the recording.

Brain stem auditory evoked potentials in the human fetus during labor
Article Abstract:
It is possible to record brain stem auditory evoked potentials in the human fetus during labor. These brain patterns may be helpful in diagnosing severe brain damage in the fetus. It is done by placing the recording electrodes on the mother's abdomen.
