Too close for comfort
Article Abstract:
Being located in a psychiatric ward near a maternity ward can be a painful experience for mentally ill mothers who have had their children forcibly removed by social services. Nursing staff are often unaware of the psychological pain suffered by mothers who see newborn babies being taken home by their proud parents on a daily basis, knowing they were once in the same happy situation.
