Training employees is good preventive medicine
Article Abstract:
Physicians must make sure that new employees receive effective training in office procedures. The training plan should outline a list of areas to be covered, such as patient interaction, telephone protocol, appointment scheduling and use of equipment. The business manager decides on the order and manner in which these subjects are taught, and other employees can do the actual training. The physician may need to become involved if a top-level office manager's employment is terminated.

Don't let public misperceptions stand unchallenged
Article Abstract:
Physicians blame the media for their poor image in the opinion of citizens of the United States. The system of delivery of health care is faulty, and the public tends to believe doctors are responsible for the dilemma. Medical professionals should use their intelligence and skills to remedy the system's problems. Doctors must involve themselves in setting community health policies, in addition to caring for their patients.

TV news
Article Abstract:
Critics are charging that coverage of health-related issues on television fail to put the stories in a realistic context. Sensationalism may cause unnecessary consumer confusion or panic, with no basis for viewers to evaluate risks. Other concerns include television's possible usurption of the physician's role, interfering with the doctor-patient relationship.
