Transplantation of anergic histoincompatible bone marrow allografts
Article Abstract:
Inactivating a specific set of T cells while leaving the rest active may allow patients to receive bone marrow transplants without the need for long-term immunosuppressive drugs. These drugs are normally used to prevent a serious reaction between the donor's cells and the recipient's cells called graft-versus-host disease. However, long-term immunosuppression has many side effects. Researchers exposed immune cells from 12 bone marrow donors and 12 patients waiting for a bone marrow transplant to a chemical that blocks the activation of a specific T cell. Then the donor cells were transplanted. Five patients were cured and did not need immunosuppressive drugs.

Beta-catenin stabilization extends regulatory T cell survival and induces anergy in nonregulatory T cells
Article Abstract:
Several studies and researches are conducted to explain the impact of the stabilization of beta-catenin on the survival of the regulatory ([T.sub.reg]) cells. Beta-catenin stabilization is found to highly extend the T cell survival, which further helps majorly in the prevention of several inflammatory diseases.

p27(super)kip1 functions as an anergy factor inhibiting interleukin 2 transcription and clonal expansion of alloreactive human and mouse helper T lymphocytes
Article Abstract:
The p27(super)kip1 kinase inhibitor is the most significant regulator in blocking expanding anergic T cells. Drugs to induce antigen-specific T-cell lack of response should therefore incorporate this kinase.
