Tuberculosis treatment: Managing non-adherence
Article Abstract:
Tuberculosis (TB) can be cured but patients must complete a full course of medication, which normally lasts for six months, and comprises a combination of antibiotics, which need to be taken together to prevent the development of drug resistance. A discussion is presented on the management of patients who do not comply with TB treatment, and the importance of adequate staffing as well as concordance between patients and healthcare professionals.
