Coeliac disease: maintaining a gluten-free diet

Coeliac disease is an intolerance to gluten, and a gluten free diet manages the condition successfully. However there is a need to inspect food labels as some commercially produced products, such as baking powder, may contain gluten. Nurses can support patients by offering explanation of diagnostic tests and by counselling.
