UPS leads network for traffic safety

UPS is leading the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) and is actively planning to implement transportation safety in the workplace. UPS corporate safety and health manager Tom Walsh says employers could enhance traffic safety by taking an employee relations approach and providing safety training for employees. Walsh also maintains that there remains considerable traffic safety challenges in the company. He adds that NETS has helped the firm in delivering traffic-safety information to its drivers as well as to non-driving employees and their families.

Companies employing a large number of working mothers can benefit in a number of ways by instituting family-friendly programs aimed at helping these working mothers. Such benefits include day care, flex time, job sharing and sick-child days. These programs have the net effect of increasing worker safety and efficiency by removing potential distractions.
