Article Abstract:
Guidance for HIV-infected health professionals may be updated and reissued. Current guidance is available in publications by the United Kingdom Central Council and United Kingdom health department experts. Nurses should confirm suspected infection through tests. If positive they should avoid invasive procedures. They need not inform their employer. Experts consider current guidelines adequately protect patients but neglect the risk to nurses from infected patients.
