Unraveling hepatitis B virus infection of mice and men (and woodchucks and ducks)
Article Abstract:
It has been difficult to study chronic hepatitis B infection because the virus has a limited host range. However, woodchucks are naturally infected by a very similar virus, and they develop chronic liver disease and liver cancer just as humans infected by hepatitis B virus do.

Directly measured kinetics of circulating T lymphocytes in normal and HIV-1-infected humans
Article Abstract:
The authors report on investigation as to the reason for depletion of T-cells in persons infected with HIV-1 virus. They attribute this occurrence to a combination of shortened survival time of the cells along with a lack of increase in T-cell production.
