Long-term residence in areas of high ozone: associations with respiratory health in a nationwide sample of nonsmoking young adults
Article Abstract:
An association has been found between diminished lung function and increased chronic respiratory symptoms for young adults who have been long-term residents (for 4 or more years) in high-ozone areas of the US, in a study involving 520 Yale College students. Age, sex, race, exposure to environmental tobacco smoke, and other potentially confounding factors were controlled for.

Acute effects of inhalable particles on the frog palate mucociliary epithelium
Article Abstract:
The effect of toxic air particles on the respiratory tract of frogs is examined, focusing on the effect on the ciliated epithelium. Results indicated the deleterious effect of the air particles in the experiment but it is difficult to extrapolate the results to health effects on human beings in urban areas.

Research indicates that temperature and air pollution, specifically NO(2), are significant risk factors for heat stroke. Studies were based on residents in Tokyo, Japan, and findings are categorized according to age group and gender.
