Use of cardiac index in pregnancy: is it justified?
Article Abstract:
Estimates of heart output may not be related to body surface area in pregnant women. The relationship of heart output to body surface area is known as the cardiac index. Researchers measured actual heart output in 88 pregnant women using two different methods and found that heart output was underestimated during the first trimester and overestimated during the third trimester by the cardiac index. Cardiac index estimations did not improve when height rather than prepregnancy or actual weight was used to determine body surface area. Heart output, rather than cardiac index, may be a more useful measure of heart function during pregnancy.

Outcomes of subsequent pregnancy after first pregnancy with early-onset preeclampsia
Article Abstract:
The outcome of subsequent pregnancy after early-onset preeclampsia in first pregnancy and also the potential risk factors for recurrence of preeclampsia and preterm delivery are evaluated. The results have shown that the outcomes of subsequent pregnancy after first pregnancy with early-onset preeclampsia are favorable.

Water immersion in preeclampsia
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to test the hypothesis that water immersion might be useful in the treatment of preeclampsia. The effect was found to be limited and short-lived, even though water immersion results in hemodynamic alterations in a manner that is theoretically therapeutic for women with preeclampsia.
