Using Intranet technology in the ICU

Article Abstract:

Patient information, hospital protocols, and medical resources may be effectively linked in a computer system called an intranet. One hospital successfully developed this Web page format for its intensive care unit (ICU) using existing hardware. The system can accommodate text or graphics. The ICU's intranet can be accessed and updated at sites throughout the department including the bedside. This system can also be linked with other ICUs and medical literature or resource databases.
