Using teamwork to improve communication
Article Abstract:
A hospital project investigated the communication of information to patients on an acute medical ward. Project leaders were particularly interested in the team approach. The group first investigated current communication procedures on the ward using a survey and observation approach. This investigation highlighted successes and problem areas. The next step was training followed by an evaluation of procedures after training. Some problems persisted, but the team was more aware of the problems associated with communicating with patients, and interruptions were fewer.
