VEGF obstructs the lungs
Article Abstract:
Nearly 30 percent of population in the United States suffers from allergies including asthma, which ramps up annual health care cost of 18 billion dollars. Type 2 T helper cells that help in the generation and orchestration of allergic responses, and a critical regulator of new blood vessel formation-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) cooperate in the development of allergic lung responses.

A chimeric human-cat fusion protein blocks cat-induced allergy
Article Abstract:
A chimeric human-cat fusion protein composed of a truncated human IgG Fcgamma1and the major cat allergen Fel d1as a proof of concept for a new approach to allergy immunotherapy is designed and tested. Chimeric human Fcgamma-allergen fusion proteins may provide a new therapeutic platform for the immune-based therapy of allergic disease.

Nipping cat allergy with fusion proteins
Article Abstract:
A new potential treatment is established for a general approach that might be applied not only to severe cat allergy but also to a wide range of allergies. A new approach, involving fusing the allergen to a protein that modulates the immune responses, could provide a more effective and safer alternative.
