Validating a simplified approach to the dietary assessment of vitamin A intake in preschool children
Article Abstract:
Dietary assessment guidelines developed by the International Vitamin A Consultative Group to identify groups at risk of inadequate vitamin A intake was validated in 121 children aged 2 to 5 years old in Bangladesh. The 24-hr intake and habitual intake of vitamin A food sources was converted into equivalent units and into consumption index scores. Results showed that the simplified recall method of vitamin A-rich and carotene-rich foods intake is adequate in identifying pre-school children at risk for inadequate vitamin A intake.

The association of energy intake bias with psychological scores of women
Article Abstract:
Social Desirability and self image of body shape appear to be linked with reporting accuracy for dietary energy intake, according to research designed to establish how specific psychological characteristics are connected with under-reporting. This research measured total energy expenditure using doubly labeled water as a reference method. It is clear that there is a need to consider the impact of psychological factors on the nature and quality of self-reported nutritional information.
