Vitality for caregivers
Article Abstract:
Nurses must know how to maintain their vitality and enthusiasm for their work in the face of the stresses that can lead to burnout. Individual nurses who succeed at this task show the following characteristics: a sense of purpose and committment, an ability to be present in the moment with patients, and a healthy perspective of events. They know how to care for themselves, and they often have spiritual resources. These characteristics can be taught.

Stess, hope, and well-being of women caring for family members with Alzheimer's disease
Article Abstract:
Research on female family members who have responsibilities for caring for relatives suffering from Alzheimer's indicates that perceived hope is an important component for balancing everyday stress with overall well-being. This research tested how levels of stress and well-being are affected by available self-care resources. The hypotheses being tested were based on the modeling and role modeling nursing theories.
