What the future holds for OSHA
Article Abstract:
Officials of the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) believe that the election of Bill Clinton increases the chance that some form of OSHA reform will be passed as law. They also predict a step towards independence from the Office of Management and Budget. Major issues concern still remain such as the small budget, and the their priority programs. While establishing standards continue to be a tedious process, safety inspections benefit from technological advancements. The organization is also eliciting increased concern from congress and is establishing links with other agencies.

Work injuries, illnesses and deaths down
Article Abstract:
The Bureau of Labor Statistics survey of occupational injuries and illnesses for 1991 showed a decrease in the number of occupational injuries, illnesses and mortalities as compared to 1990. About 25% of the injuries were reported from department stores, eating and drinking places, hospitals, hotels and motels, automobile industries, nursing and personal care facilities, retail grocers and trucking and over-the-road courier services.
