What's ahead for head and face protection
Article Abstract:
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires industrial workers to use protective equipment that meet standards set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). These standards are constantly revised to keep up with innovations in safety-equipment design. The 1989 revised ANSI standards for eye and face protection propose the use of safety glasses with side-shields and more impact-resistant face shields. Updated head-protection standards require the use of safety helmets that provide lateral protection.

OSHA targets chemical hazards
Article Abstract:
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued the Standard for Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals, which aims to provide safety guidelines to industries which are involved in using and storing large amounts of highly hazardous chemicals. The standard may affect more than 3 million workers in 25,000 companies. Although OSHA allows the firms to create their own safety programs, compliance with the standards will cost a lot of money.
