Consulting workers CD
Article Abstract:
Employers in the UK would be obliged to seek the opinions of their staff on health and safety issues if recommendations contained in a consultative document from the Health and Safety Commission are converted into legislation. Currently, consultation is only undertaken with the safety representatives of any trade unions recognised by the employer. Consultation would also have to be undertaken in specific circumstances, including if any measure is introduced in the workplace which would have a significant impact on the health and safety of staff.

First aid: the philosophy
Article Abstract:
The Health and Safety Executive's new Code of Practice on Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, place responsibility for health and safety on the employer, rather than the regulatory authority. Employers are encouraged to assess their First Aid requirements and provide facilities and resources to meet those requirements.
