Workplace dust explosion: A problem in need of solution
Article Abstract:
A detailed examination of the workplace dust explosion issue, in context of the disaster that occurred at the West Pharmaceuticals Services Inc., is presented. According to the United States Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, nearly 200 explosions have taken place in the past quarter century, and about 100 fatalities have occurred. The causes of the dust explosion, the rules put forward by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the need for solutions that can address this issue effectively, are presented.
