Technological capability assessment as an input for strategic planning: case studies at Electricite de France and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand
Article Abstract:
A firm's technological capability is vital in the formulation of its strategic decisions. An assessment methodology proposed and applied by H. Panda and K. Ramanathan on Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and Electricite de France provided significant inputs on strategic planning. Procedural steps started with an identification of the firms' value addition activities followed by an identification of technological capability needs. Several capability factors were then measured relative to the firms' technology structure to determine strengths and weaknesses between people and technology.
