Alison Becker Chase, Choreographer and dancer
Article Abstract:
The Pilobolus Dance Theater was born in an introductory class in modern dance taught in 1971 at Dartmouth College by the choreographer and dancer Alison Becker Chase, who was generally considered the 'mother' of the troupe. Chase choreographed more than 40 major works for Pilobolus and performed in many of them, winning critical acclaim before she was ousted from the company in 2005 by its board of directors.
