Coretta Scott King
Article Abstract:
The first lady of the US civil rights movement, Coretta Scott King kept a relatively low profile as the wife of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at her husband's request. As the widow of the slain Dr. King, she emerged with dignity and grace as well as strength as an activist in her own right, a guardian of his dream that one day the US will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed.
