Donald M. Murray, Columnist for the Boston Globe, journalist, textbook writer, novelist, and educator
Article Abstract:
Donald M. Murray have won a Pulitzer Prize for editorial written for the newspaper Boston Herald in 1954 and his other published works include a novel, two memoirs, poems, and many books on the art and craft of writing and on teaching would-be writers. Murray served as chairman of the Department of English for two years (1975-77), won two UNH awards for his teaching and received an honorary doctoral degree from the university in 1990.

Jonathan Lethem, an author of short stories, essays and six novels was one of the 25 individuals to receive a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, commonly referred to as the genius grant. Lethem is known for his ability to develop unusual themes in unexpected genres and mix serious and popular fiction.
