Moving away from informality
Article Abstract:
The computer software company Oracle UK developed a business skills training program to address the problems of high employee expectations and slow growth. This training program was designed based on the needs of Oracle's senior executives. Two core events constituted the business skills program. These core events were designed to represent company culture and become an essential part of the company's entire training package. The first event called 'Managing in Oracle' was devised for general managers and functioned as a communication exercise wherein business planning and market development issues were discussed. The second event called 'New Managers Workshop' was created as a venue for experiential learning for new management staff.
