Are top human resource specialists 'strategic partners'? Self-perceptions of a corporate elite
Article Abstract:
Little research has been undertaken into the practices of the most senior human resource (HR) specialists and their place in large corporations. A new study analyses the qualifications, careers and strategic contributions of senior HR managers in 14 New zealand companies. It is shown that most senior HR specialists share a common background in line management, with their focus on managing managers and industrial relations. The strategic contributions of top HR personnel are further analysed.
