Back to the future--trusty watchdog must trust industry and trades unions
Article Abstract:
Industries such as manufacturing have decreased while the number of SMEs, female workers, the self-employed, part-time employees and migrant workers have increased, hence in order to make the Health and Safety at Work Act relevant to the 21st century, more resources and enforcement is necessary. The Health and Safety Commission (HSC) strongly supports the approach of worker involvement and the industry too has an important role to play in the future of health and safety.
