Billions lost through over-50s unemployment, according to audit office findings

The National Audit Office (NAO) has found that the reduction in taxes and increase in welfare payments because of low levels of employment in older workers has caused billions of pounds of loss to the economy. The report has recommended fresh evaluation of New Deal 50 plus and regional development programs.

Few employers act on age Code

A UK Department of Education and Employment survey shows very few employers have changed workplace policy in response to the Code of Practice on Age Diversity in Employment. Over 85% of UK residents over 50 believe employers discriminate against the aged.
