Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the effects of quality initiatives (QIs) on organizational communication and to investigate the function of the human resources management (HRM) in communication strategies. The research studied the quality of upward, downward and sideways communication in 133 Irish organizations as well as the extent of collaborative communication and problem solving with peers and managers. Findings revealed that the QIs contributed to the enhancement of internal communications processes. However, the HRM function was found to have made only moderate contribution to communications improvement. Moreover, employees felt that the QIs did not fully result in the satisfaction of their expectations regarding with communication improvements.
