Developments in European pensions - what does all this mean for employers?
Article Abstract:
Pension funds and pension arrangements were viewed as services that providers should be able to offer freely across the European Union (EU), irrespective of the country in which they are based. There are bound to be obstacles to establishing and operating a completely pan - EU pension plan covering all employees everywhere in the EU.

Part-timers, equal pay and pensions
Article Abstract:
Two recent decisions, one from the European Court (ECJ) and another from the employment appeal tribunal (EAT), on part-timers' access to pension schemes under equal pay legislation are discussed. A number of issues outstanding for the EAT to address are described.

No need for male comparator in maternity equal pay claims
Article Abstract:
The decision of Court of Appeals in Alabaster v. Barclays Bank plc and the Secretary of State for Social Security is discussed. The decision did away with the requirement of a male comparator, in equal pay claims relating to maternity.
