The European Federation for Retirement Provision and the United Kingdom's National Association of Pension Funds held its 1997 international conference in Benalmadena, Spain. The conference emphasized the current changes in pension provisions in the European Union. A shift from the pay-as-you-go basis towards a funded approach is seen by most countries as the most favorable move by the government towards high quality pension provision service.
