Article Abstract:
About 50 individuals attended the seventh International Dialogue Conference of the European Actuarial Consultancy Services in Poland. The event, with the theme 'Pensions in Europe: Progress through Security,' featured plenary sessions on the pension system in Poland and Latvia. The conference also included two sessions devoted to Central and Eastern Europe and one session dedicated to Western Europe. The pensions policy of international bodies, such as the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, were also discussed in one session.

Hay International Conference: Amsterdam
Article Abstract:
A report on the 11th Hay International Conference held in Amsterdam toward the end of 1992 is presented. Among the topics discussed during the conference, which had the theme 'Rethinking the Fundamentals,' were remuneration trends in Europe, the role of benefits in the remuneration package, the widespread development of performance-related pay in European countries, cultural influences on total remuneration, the concept of Europay and the prognosis for such a system.

Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the EURACS Conference, hosted in Vienna, are presented. Reference is made to the European problems of unfunded State pensions, the failure of the pay-as-you-go system, and the proposed EU new directive for occupational retirement pensions.
