Expatriate assignments to the United States
Article Abstract:
The establishment of the proper compensation for expatriates assigned to the US is examined. Problems arise when the proposed US salary is lower than the present salary. It is important for the compensation manager to clearly distinguish between employees transferring permanently to the US and employees who are temporarily assigned there. As a general rule, those being transferred on a permanent basis must be integrated into US compensation and benefit plans while those on temporary assignment need specific compensation policies.
