Floor plan for safety: when choosing a floor a little forethought and common sense helps prevent slipping, tripping and falling accidents
Article Abstract:
There is a duty to provide a safe working area for employees but often the wrong type of flooring is installed in places of work. During construction, floors are often the last item to be fitted and often it is the cheapest floor that is installed rather than the most suitable. The floor is often made worse through bad maintenance. Many contractors are now ensuring that the right flooring material is used in the right place, and are insisting that the customer sticks to a cleaning maintenance schedule.

The missing link
Article Abstract:
Respiratory protection equipment should perform well in the field as well as in laboratory tests, and knowledge of its effectiveness is important in assessing legal issues relating to accidents. Employees who use the equipment tend to have little say in how standards are laid down, and standards vary from country to country. These were among the issues debated at the International Society for Respiratory Protection at its meeting in Manchester, England.
