Global production and worker response: The struggle at Volkswagen of Mexico
Article Abstract:
The transformation of work and labor relations in global auto industry has gathered momentum, driven by the introduction of new systems of industrial organization. At Volkswagen plant in Puebla intensified work, stagnant or falling real wages, close collaboration between government and corporate leaders promoting investment and suppressing worker resistance, have led to conflict between company and independent union representing workers which provides insight on problems of Mexican autoworkers.

Article Abstract:
California voters in 2003 elected Arnold Schwarzenegger where two crisis triggered this event which are large ongoing state budgets and failed electricity deregulation plan. The first year he dealt with budget through large scale borrowing, but in 2005 due to budget deficit, he threatened voters with a budget solution, morphed campaign against the 'big government unions'.
