HRM and employee involvement in Britain and Sweden: a comparative study
Article Abstract:
Recent research has used Poole's framework of power in workers' participation as an analytical tool for assessing employee involvement in the UK and Sweden. It was found that Swedish employees felt more involved in their workplace than their UK counterparts on a micro level, but that at the macro level both sets of employees felt equally divorced from participation in making strategic decisions. It is likely that at micro level cultural and ideological influences predominate, while at macro level the main influence is held by economic and political factors.
