HRM and the legitimacy market
Article Abstract:
Human resource management (HRM) theory and literature has tended to concentrate on the product market and internal efficiency considerations, while neglecting environmental considerations. The third touchstone which is needed to complement the product market and the labour market can be found in the idea of the legitimacy market. The legitimacy market looks at HRM's role in reflecting the external cultural and social environment of an organisation.
