How to tell your boss he's wrong
Article Abstract:
Disagreeing with or contradicting the order of a superior manager is a difficult situation, but there are some techniques that make it easier. No effort should be made to take away the boss' right to make the decision. The employee should suggest alternative solutions that may not have occurred to the boss. The employee should suggest alternate solutions early in the decision-making process, making sure that solutions are offered with an attitude of cooperation and respect for the supervisor's position. Instead of saying that a task does not fit the job description, one can suggest someone who is better qualified. When two bosses give conflicting directions, an effort should be made to get the two of them to discuss the issue. When there is a potential conflict of ethics, the manager should be told what the employee's personal limits are so that the assignment can be directed elsewhere.

Emotional maturity - an important executive quality
Article Abstract:
Immature behavior in managers stands out and reduces their influence and chances for career advancement. Problems arise when such behavior is frequent and the individual is unaware of it. Feedback and performance appraisals tend to neglect emotionally immature behavior. Awareness is the first step in reversing the pattern. Nine forms of individuals are described who show immature behavior: dominators, 'Robin Hoods', saboteurs, prima donnas, 'Attila the Huns', pleasers, Chicken Littles, braggarts, and blamers.
