Article Abstract:
Workers and unions can learn lessons from the civil rights movement to build a worker rights movement to achieve fundamental changes and not merely financial increments. The example of civil rights movement shows that workers' rights can be won only if workers launch a mass movement, take risks by engaging in direct action, demonstrate an ability to disrupt the normal functioning of society and maintain the momentum until concessions are won.
