Look into window alternatives
Article Abstract:
A 1986 survey of 529 corporations by Hewitt Associates revealed that one-third of the respondents had used early retirement incentives in the past five years. Results also indicated that one of the frequent options was to use windows, an incentive program of early retirement with a limited active period, in order to downsize companies. Personnel professionals should be aware of basic design elements when creating windows programs that can improve the effectiveness of programs, including: designing programs with longer active lifetimes; designing programs that do not have any age discrimination liabilities; and providing data on company retirement benefits. Another option worth exploring is designing windows programs with 'portholes.' 'Porthole' designs structure series of small windows spaced out over time, and the benefit of such designs is that portholes keep departures in check.

Credit unions: the employer's benefit
Article Abstract:
Companies offering credit union membership to its employees find that membership is an attractive fringe benefit that does not cost the company anything. Employees like credit unions because they have a reputation as being competent, friendly and not as expensive as banks. Businesses like them because once the initial research is done, a credit union is selected, and employees join, the credit union membership requires little maintenance by the company.
