Multinational companies contemplate creation of European works councils
Article Abstract:
Works councils have been part of company practices in many European countries even before the EC's proposal for the creation of community-scale works councils. Moreover, there are large multinational companies planning to set up works councils regardless of the decision on the Commission proposal's. Thus, large companies must examine the many facets of setting up works councils before they are forced to do so.

Globalizing employee benefits
Article Abstract:
The provision of benefits to employees of multinational corporations must comply with the regulations of the countries where such firms are situated. The development of a single employee plan is not possible due to variations in the requirements of countries. However, global benefits plans can be formulated by considering various issues, such as business philosophy or culture, short and long term objectives, management support, written guidelines and the acquisition of data on local plans.
