Promotion systems and career development in Thailand: a case study of Siam Cement
Article Abstract:
The promotion systems and career development of managers of Siam Cement Public Limited, the largest manufacturing conglomerate in Thailand is examined. Findings suggest that well-planned recruitment, competitive promotion, concrete performance appraisal and wide-ranging training and development programmers, including job rotation and sending managers to study abroad, were all essential career development strategies.

Facing the rankings from the past: a tournament perspective on repatriate career mobility
Article Abstract:
Multinational business organisations are trying to establish why the expatriate's career fares less well after repatriation than employees who remain at home. The organisation would prevent such problems from occurring if it were to adopt a global perspective on human resources management to facilitate the pursuit of productive career paths for those employees who travel abroad.
