Recruiting in Asia: not an easy task
Article Abstract:
The continuing influx of multinational companies to Asia is creating a serious shortage in the supply of qualified business executives. Aside from the fierce competition for local management-level employees, the scarcity of qualified workers can be attributed to the region's lack of educational resources and experience in management training. International corporations can minimize problems that can crop up at any stage of the recruitment process by familiarizing themselves with the local labor markets and labor practices.

Total remuneration planning in Asia
Article Abstract:
Companies maintaining operations in the Asia-Pacific region should follow a strategic approach to the design of total remuneration programs based on a clear understanding of differences between the region's employment markets and remuneration structures. To ensure the success of a specific remuneration strategy, it is important to identify the competitor mix against which the strategy will be compared. Special attention should also be paid to maintaining a balance between the strategic goals and budget constraints.

Salary sacrifice as a remuneration tool
Article Abstract:
Many German companies are implementing cash-for-deferred compensation schemes that allow them to provide retirement benefits to their employees without taking on additional cost burden. Under these schemes, the employees' entitlement to cash compensation is reduced in exchange for an occupational retirement benefit of equal value for future employment periods. This setup enables employers to provide their employees with total remuneration more efficiently.
