Rising to the European challenge
Article Abstract:
Many German companies are studying the feasibility of implementing defined contributions systems for providing retirement benefits to their employees. These companies believe that such systems will provide them with more flexible financing options and enable them to cope with the additional financing burdens associated with the diminishing social security benefits. They are also optimistic that define contribution systems will allow them to extend the scope of their benefit schemes to include employees who are not yet covered.
