Ergonomics emphasizes body size, task analysis and usability and an ergonomic program helps to determine the ergonomic hazards that exist in the organization. An important factor when designing ergonomic program is to allow flexibility so that the health and safety team can focus on controlling the most significant hazards while encouraging different and inventive solutions to be generated by the workers themselves.

Engineering and ergonomic solutions are found to prevent injuries to the user of hand tools. Disorders in the hand can be avoided by taking into consideration the size, shape, texture, length and vibration of tools.
